We’ve been watching Lil Berete’s star rise for a while now. The Toronto rapper broke onto the scene back in 2018 with his debut Icebreaker that featured collaborations with Kenny Beats, JoEazy, and Acerr. He followed the project up with 1 Way Out the next year, which saw Berete repping Toronto pride and working with Headie One, Calboy, and more. He then released Icebreaker 2 last year, a sequel with features from Sada Baby, Unimerce, and others.
Since then, Berete has released singles including “Water”, “Woke Up” and “Venom” with Tizzy Stackz. Now he gave us another track, this time King Feng. “100 BRICKS” features Lil Berete, detailing the story of his rise to fame and the success he’s seen recently. This instrument is perfect for heat waves, with an evocative noodle guitar. King Feng brings solid verse to the song and some darkness to a song that is mostly celebratory. “I shot first because niggas don’t shoot/They killed my dad and I can’t even sleep,” he lamented.
