For one of his new Spotify Singles, Lucky Daye returns to his presentation collection by playing out a live interpretation of “Floods.”

Fortunate Daye has had an astonishing run for this present year. In the wake of showing up on Kehlani, Queen Naija, and Kiana Ledé’s collections in 2020, the four-opportunity Grammy candidate returned solid in February with the arrival of the extraordinary Valentine’s Day EP Table For Two. The two part harmony filled task highlighted a few of the main female voices in R&B, including Ari Lennox, Yebba, and Mahalia, among others.

Months after the fact, Lucky Daye has collaborated with Spotify for another round of Spotify Singles, and both of his two most recent contributions track down the New Orleans-conceived craftsman looking to the past for motivation. For one of his Spotify Singles, Lucky Daye covered Marvin Gaye’s “Leniency Mercy Me,” and for the other melody, he treated his fans with a stripped-down rendition of “Overflowed,” which showed up on his acclaimed debut collection Painted.

While clarifying the tune’s verses on Genius, Lucky Daye said, “The motivation behind this melody was this young lady who I adored, and I thought she cherished me back. She caused me to feel like I made her flee from me, however I didn’t have the foggiest idea what I did and she was unable to determine what I did. Thus, I just composed it. I was inebriated. The floods address tears, yet it was drinking. I’m flooding my framework with simply drinks, drinks, drinks. I was gone that evening.”
